Deadly Yemen Raid Produced No Significant Intelligence

Although the White House has said the specific plan for the raid had been pushed from Obama to Trump because of the mission's specific timing - namely, a night with no moon - Obama administration officials have debated this account.

The Herald reports that Owens was also dismayed by Trump's treatment of Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father who spoke out against then-candidate Trump at the Democratic National Convention last summer. Spicer again defended the USA raid in Yemen in January that resulted in the death of a Navy SEAL. Bill Owens, whose youngest son Ryan was killed in a combat mission that went awry, said.

"He fought knowing what was at stake in that mission". The United States is safer today thanks to his bravery and years of faithful service in uniform.

White House Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed Owens' grief on ABC's This Week, saying that Ryan "is a true American hero, and we should forever been in his son's debt".

The White House's first characterization of the Yemen raid as a "success" has come under criticism, including by Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican, for questioning the success of mission, he sent an email to McCain asking for an investigation.

Bill Cosby Sex Assault Case: Judge Will Allow Another Accuser to Testify
The judge claimed that he had carefully balanced the probative value of such testimony versus its prejudicial impact on Cosby. The judge in his Friday order did not reveal why he barred prosecutors from presenting evidence from the other 12 women.

The botched U.S. commando raid on an al Qaeda outpost in Yemen that resulted in the death of a U.S. Navy SEAL and several women and children reportedly gained very little important information.

Saying that the US owes his son an investigation, Owens criticized Trump for using a combat death to attack those who are calling for an inquiry.

Owens refused to meet with Trump when his son's remains were returned to Dover Air Force Base because "my conscience wouldn't let me talk to him".

The Herald reports that Owens, a military veteran, is now demanding an investigation into the military action that killed his son, as well as almost 30 civilians.

One Politico official told the Examiner that Isenstadt "chuckled" at Spicer's heated answers, not Owens' death.

The White House's rhetoric about what transpired in Yemen, at least thus far, has been discouraging. Sanders did not respond to a request later in the day Sunday to elaborate on what might be involved.

Instead, Pentagon officials called it a "site exploitation mission" created to gather intelligence.

"He started laughing about that SEAL", said one official, who was upset that the Politico story described Ditto as a "more junior spokesperson".

The official added that the ground commander of the operation made the decision to proceed with the mission despite knowing the team had "lost the element of surprise", possibly due in part to the noise of drones overhead.

Spicer noted that Ryan Owens' wife did meet with Trump, telling POTUS that her husband served because "he loved it".
