Environmental Groups Sue Trump Administration for Approving Keystone Pipeline

Still, each passing year has tilted the situation in favor of the pipeline's opponents, thanks to the combination of falling oil prices, the constant improvement of alternative energy sources like solar power, and growing public awareness of the environmental and indigenous cultural issues surrounding pipelines like Keystone XL and the Dakota Access Pipeline.

TransCanada said activists and special interest groups should be denied because they want to bring up issues beyond the narrow scope of addressing the pipeline path, such as global climate change and safety.

On Thursday morning multiple Indigenous and environmental organizations launched two simultaneous lawsuits over U.S. President Donald Trump's approval of the massive Keystone XL oil pipeline project.

As per these groups, the 2014 report on the project's impact "downplays or ignores other significant environmental impacts of Keystone XL, including harms to land, air, water, and wildlife".

She is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of commissioner James Gordon, and has had a long history of fighting alongside Batman . Warner Bros. has plans for another stand-alone superhero movie, and the studio has just the director for the project.

Erich Pica, President, Friends of the Earth, said "For nearly a decade, Americans have fought to stop the dirty Keystone XL pipeline from polluting our air and water". Also, the approval of this project has caused people to wonder if the Keystone XL Pipeline project is opening the door for several other similar projects.

The Keystone XL would run from Canada to Steele City in Nebraska, where it would meet up with an existing pipeline network connected to US refineries on the Gulf Coast.

Supporters, including Trump, say the pipeline will foster USA energy independence and will create jobs. This Energy Transfer Partners LP (NYSE: ETP) pipeline will carry Bakken oil to Patoka, Ill., where existing pipelines will transport it to refineries.

A lawsuit filed in Montana by a coalition of groups says more environmental scrutiny is required.

South African finance minister pulled from overseas tour
Zuma pulled Gordhan from his global trip to appear in court of Tuesday after the Guptas filed an application for him to do so. The case has been a particular bone of contention between Zuma and his finance minister.

Last Friday, the President issued a permit for the Keystone Pipeline multi-billion dollar project after years of delay under the Obama Administration. On March 24, TransCanada announced it had received the permit.

"Now we can begin to roll-back red tape and enact policies that create jobs and promote economic growth", the lawmakers said. I am glad President Trump approved construction of the pipeline, and am thankful to see our government prioritizing the nation's security - finally making it possible to stop relying on Middle Eastern nations to meet America's energy needs.

Because the pipeline would cross about 45 miles of federal land administered by the Bureau of Land Management at and immediately south of the border crossing, TransCanada also must also secure right-of-way grants from BLM, the lawsuit says.

Commission spokeswoman Deb Collins said that the Public Service Commission has received tens of thousands of almost identical messages sent from the same domain, the Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/2okVHAI ) reported.

Obama health law's 'essential benefits' may be in jeopardy
Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) shortly after the opening bell in New York, U.S., March 21, 2017. The expansion covers people with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty line, or about $16,640 for an individual.

"Instead of investing in working together to build the safest pipeline possible, they would rather use litigation to delay or stop a pipeline from being built which will continue to force crude oil to be transported by truck and train, which is significantly more risky and damaging to the environment", Ekblad said in a statement.
