Government: 36 Islamic State fighters killed by massive bomb

Afghan officials say at least 90 Islamic State fighters were killed when the U.S. dropped the "mother of all bombs" in Afghanistan - although IS has denied suffering any casualties.

Inamullah Meyakhil, spokesman for the central hospital in eastern Nangarhar province, said the facility had received no dead or wounded from the attack. So far Afghan officials say "Twenty-two bodies were found in one cave, 60 in another and 10 bodies in a third".

President Ashraf Ghani voiced his support for the bombing, saying it was executed in coordination with Afghanistan's government and was "designed to support the efforts of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and US forces conducting clearance operations in the region".

Haji Mohammad Sadeq, another tribal elder said civilians in the immediate area of the Islamic State hideout "left the area long ago", while others who remained were alerted by Afghan forces through mosques. Nangarhar provincial spokesman Attaullah Khogyani gave a toll of 90.

Telling the story during his Glasgow tour date on Friday, he said: "The tattoo actually says Galway Grill G-R-I-L-L". Ronan made a huge mistake however and now the ink job says 'Galway Grill '. "It actually says Galway Grill ".

"At least 92 Daesh fighters were killed in the bombing", Achin district governor Esmail Shinwari said yesterday, using an acronym for the Arab name of ISIS.

"We pulled out 90 dead bodies of fighters who lived underground in those tunnels and caves for years, operating and planning attack across the country".

US forces in Afghanistan had not yet assessed the impact Friday of a massive strike on Islamic State militants in the eastern part of the country, a military spokesman said, raising questions about the already controversial decision to deploy a 22,000-pound bomb on the battlefield. Addressing a gathering in capital Kabul, Karzai said that allowing the U.S.to carry out the bombing was "treason" and an insult to Afghanistan.

The office of President Ashraf Ghani said there was "close coordination" between the USA military and the Afghan government over the operation, and they were careful to prevent any civilian casualties.

He'd allow one single in each of those frames, but they all came on grounders and none of the runners advanced beyond first base. Whenever he is ready to come up and whatever decision they make on myself, I just try to do my work", Aquino said.

Before the strike, CBS New correspondent David Martin says there were an estimated 600 to 800 ISIS fighters in Afghanistan. The U.S. has concentrated on fighting them while also supporting Afghan forces against the Taliban. An American special forces soldier was killed last Saturday in Nangarhar while conducting anti-ISIS operations. Family of one of the missing youths said that he was killed in MOAB strike in Afghanistan, tweeted ANI. In the 30-second video, the bomb could be seen dropping before it exploded midair.

"The district chief and others are out of danger and are not in life-threatening condition", he said.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said earlier at his daily press briefing that the strike was done to deny ISIS "operational space".
