Fyre Festival Lawsuit Seeks $100M After Failed Event

$100 million sounds about right. However, the New York Post reported that when guests arrived, they found what looked like a refugee camp: The accommodations were tents used in recent hurricane relief efforts, and the "gourmet food" was cheese and sliced bread with limp salad (that's if you got any).

Jung says he paid $2,000 for a ticket package and airfare to the event that started on Thursday and promised "a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience on the Islands of the Exumas".

According to TMZ, attorney Mark Geragos, who's previously represented Chris Brown and Michael Jackson, filed a proposed $100 million class-action lawsuit against organizers Ja Rule and Billy McFarland on behalf of client Daniel Jung.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court, names festival co-founders Ja Rule and Billy McFarland, along with Fyre Media, as defendants.

Magnitude-6.2 earthquake rattles corner of Canada, Alaska
It's not uncommon for an aftershock to be larger than the triggering quake, though normally the following quakes are smaller, U.S. A magnitude 6.2 quake hit Yukon and Alaska at about 5:30 a.m. local time today, causing power outages and shaking people awake.

AS the chaos surrounding the failed Fyre Festival in Exuma caught global headlines over the weekend, "mortified" co-organiser Ja Rule denied Friday the claims that the luxury music festival was a scam.

As a show of apology, Frye is offering all attendees of the non-festival a full refund-as well as free VIP passes to next year's festival, which will take place at a beach venue in the US.

Some on Twitter had a hard time feeling sorry for rich attendees. "We set up water and waste management, brought an ambulance from NY, and chartered 737 planes to shuttle our guests via 12 flights a day from Miami".

And what happened next wasn't ideal, either, the lawsuit says, claiming festivalgoers were "unable to escape the unfolding disaster due to their reliance upon Defendants for transportation". Krispy said the type of planning that goes into a festival like this takes years to organize, and the planners tried to do it in a matter of months. The buses couldn't handle the load. Concert-goers said trying to get into the festival was chaotic.

UK terror plot: Woman shot, knife-carrying man nabbed in Westminster
Asked if police had foiled an active plot, Neil Basu, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, replied: "Yes". The woman, who is in her 20s, was in serious but stable condition in a hospital, police said.

Fyre Festival was promoted as a luxury island getaway and cultural experience for music fans with $1,000 or more to drop on tickets.

In a statement released on Sunday by Geragos, the lawyer claimed that Fyre organizers "need to step up and make this right but unfortunately, the opposite has occurred".

If you turned up at the Fyre Festival wooed by its ads - and many, many fans did - you'd think you were in for a weekend of top-notch acts playing for your entertainment, as models in bikinis paraded around and private jets and yachts ferried you to and from the attractive Caribbean paradise.

The Ministry of Tourism in the Bahamas also cleared that they are not an official sponsor of the event, despite Fyre Festival organizers asking for their support.
