No Swimming: Google Launches Anti-Phishing Protections for Android Users

That Google Doc email that likely made it into your inbox from a "trusted" sender is sweeping computers nationwide.

IF you've had an email in the last few days inviting you to view a file on Google Docs, it may well be a fake. Safe Browsing works the same way this app version works, the users will get to see a warning message when a suspicious link, which Google knows is associated with phishing or malware, is being opened.

Speaking to the BBC, Google said that removed the attack "within approximately one hour", via "removing fake pages and applications".

"Game of Thrones" spin-offs in the works at HBO
The duo is now finishing up with the upcoming seventh season and "already writing and preparing for the eighth and final season". It is not clear whether the show will be a prequel or a sequal to the hit television series.

What aided Wednesday's phishing scheme was that Google's own services didn't do enough to point out it came from a suspicious developer, said Aaron Parecki, an IT consultant who helps businesses implement OAuth.

"While contact information was accessed and used by the campaign, our investigations show that no other data was exposed", the spokesperson said. Nevertheless, Google says that 0.1 per cent of all Gmail users were affected, and while that seems like a very small percentage, Google says there are over a billion Gmail users.

DeMarre's not only clever enough to have figured out this kind of attack, he reported it to Google in 2012 and says, over on Hacker News, that he even received "a modest bounty" for his troubles. But it's a good excuse to check your Google account to verify everything connected to it.

The sale was disclosed in a document filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission, which is available at this hyperlink . Its price to free cash flow for trailing twelve months is 986.30 and Current ratio for most recent quarter of 1.90.

Users would be even asked to give an app named "Google Docs" account permissions, however, it isn't the real Google Docs. If you do, you are asked for permission by an app that looks strikingly similar to Google Docs, to the point that it's nearly identical.

In case you have already clicked on the Google Docs malicious link, spammers will, in all likelihood, have third party access to your Google account.

Google's anti-phishing security check is a nice addition to Gmail for Android. "While not all affected email will necessarily be unsafe, we encourage you to be extra careful about clicking on links in messages that you're not sure about". A purported copy of the source code makes it seem like the phishing worm was simply created to propagate itself, although it's possible that more malicious code was involved in the attack.
