Scientists march against threat they face in post-fact age

USA scientists will stage an unprecedented protest on Saturday, a March for Science provoked by steep cuts President Donald Trump has proposed for science and research budgets, and growing disregard for evidence-based knowledge.

The website for the main march in Washington, D.C., described the March for Science as "the first step of a global movement to defend the vital role science plays in our health, safety, economies, and governments". He had previously said that he does not believe in man-made climate change and attempted to influence the public communication of science and environment authorities like the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Parks Service.

"This sign is flat - the Earth is not!" said one sign at the Silicon Valley March for Science, urging people not to regress to an obsolete world view science helped overturn.
