Trump tries to pressure Senate Republicans on health care

Dr. Cervone recalled when Obamacare was first passed and "Republicans were saying people are going to die".

"There are some times in life you have to do what's right, not what's politically expedient", Priebus said Sunday. "I've learned this week, actually, that the House GOP sought to get Reince Priebus, the chief of staff at the white house, to appoint house Democrats, too ... there is one job that is still open, as we know: Army Secretary". "I think that the Republican Party will be rewarded".

Ryan says the House measure gives states flexibility to set up high-risk pools for the very sick so that no one is denied coverage. In Nevada, the ad shows a clip of Heller speaking at the town hall and says: "Call Senator Heller and tell him to keep his word". These include the widening of the community rating bands, funding aimed at stabilizing the exchanges and the permanent repeal of ACA taxes.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., admitted the process wouldn't be easy in the Senate, but "we'll continue to work on it".

Republicans cheered after the final votes were passed.

His Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida has been Trump's weekend White House for much of his young presidency. Among the vulnerable: two-term Rep. Tom MacArthur, R-N.J., who helped revive the bill by authoring a key amendment on pre-existing conditions.

The streak started with a win over the Tigers in which he allowed six earned runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. Cabrera is batting.440 (22-for-50) with five home runs and 10 RBIs in his career against Kluber.

When pressed by Keilar, however, Blackburn was less sure about whether those with pre-existing conditions would see their premiums rise under the new bill.

For now, Senate Republicans are signaling that they are in control after weeks of tumult within the House.

The House bill has Americans in an uproar over its negative aspects, such as older people facing higher costs and 14 million people losing their insurance in the first year. Congress can fix it by allowing interstate insurance sales and providing a public option, boosting competition and driving down premiums.

"Progressives are going to hang this around the necks of every one of those Republicans", said Angel Padilla, co-founder of the liberal group Indivisible. "We need people to make their voices heard in Washington so the Republicans in the Senate know that America does not want this unsafe bill".

Republican Sen. Susan Collins of ME, a moderate Republican whose vote will be critical in getting a bill to Trump's desk, voiced concerns about potential higher costs for older people and those with pre-existing conditions. Democrats oppose the effort to dismantle Obama's health care law.

"Our concerns are that these reforms which I put in quotation marks may well be a step backwards", says Dr. Jeff Gordon, President of the Connecticut State Medical Society which represents more than 7 thousand physicians. "The Senate is starting from scratch".

In an editorial titled "The Trumpcare Disaster", The New York Times listed various vital health services that would be slashed or made more expensive if the House bill passes the Senate and becomes law.

In working for and praising it Thursday as "a great plan", it is unclear whether President Trump does not realize how out of line the legislation is with his promises or doesn't care, because his goal was a legislative victory not achieving promised policy.

Some senators have already voiced displeasure with the health care bill that cleared the House last week, with Republicans providing all the "yes" votes in the 217-213 count.

"Make no mistake, this is a repeal and a replace of Obamacare", Trump said.

The House bill would eliminate fines on people who don't buy policies and erase taxes on health industry businesses and higher earners. But NPR's Alison Kodjak reported that "an analysis released Thursday by consulting firm Avalere Health concludes that amount would be inadequate for providing full health coverage for the number of people who now buy insurance in the individual market and have medical problems".

And provisions that were tucked into the House repeal bill, the American Health Care Act, were embraced by conservatives but dismissed by moderate GOP lawmakers in the Senate. Some Senate Republicans, including Rob Portman of Ohio, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, object to cutting $880 billion from Medicaid.
