'Alex Jones isn't going away,' NBC's Kelly says in defending interview

A parent of one of the children killed in the 2012 CT school shootings says she won't view the Megyn Kelly interview of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that aired Sunday on NBC.

The decision to interview Jones was met with criticism from those arguing a mainstream outlet like NBC should not give a platform to a risky conspiracy theorist - but Kelly's tough questioning of Jones and some selective editing drew plaudits from skeptics who assumed Kelly would grant the Infowars host a puff piece. Before the interview, Jones leaked an audio recording of what he said was a phone conversation with Kelly. He leaked audio of his pre-production discussions with Kelly, hoping to create suspicion that Kelly's real goal for wanting to interview him was to do a hit piece on him.

60 Minutes beat Kelly in overall audience, delivering 5.31 million viewers.

Tougher Trump line toward Cuba delights hardliners on island
White House officials also said it's the category most ripe for abuse, with Americans using it to skirt the tourism ban. Tillerson had privately expressed support for Obama's Cuba policy during the transition, according to sources.

The episode finally aired Sunday, averaging 3.5 million viewers, a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and a 0.7 rating among adults 25-54.

Megyn Kelly's much talked about interview with Alex Jones got plenty of attention for Kelly and NBC, both good and bad, but not many viewers.

Kelly's first episode came out high, averaging 6.2 million viewers, while her second episode dipped down to 3.6 million viewers and was dwarfed by competitor 60 Minutes.

Heckmondwike and Spen to remember Jo Cox with family get togethers
Mr Cox told Sky News that in keeping with his wife's message of unity the idea is to "celebrate the things that bind us together".

At least one NBC affiliate, WVIT in New Britain, Connecticut, opted to not air the program out of respect for families of those slain in the December 2012 mass killing.

Kelly challenged Jones from the start, introducing him as a "radical conspiracy theorist" and promising to confront him on his "notorious lie" about Sandy Hook. She said Monday she won't watch the interview for "obvious" reasons.

The segment with Jones combined Kelly's interview with background on his history of false remarks, his relationship with Trump and comments from Newtown parent Neil Heslin, whose six-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, was killed in the shooting. In response to criticism, Kelly invited parents to participate in the segment, an offer that one father accepted. Lawyers representing 12 people who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook massacre wrote to the network and asked them not to air the interview.
