Apple to turn iPhone into hub of medical info

The secretive, rapidly expanding health team inside Apple is working to turn the iPhone into a one-stop shop for all your medical information, according to a report from CNBC.

They have likened this system to what Apple has done for music with iTunes, where there will be a central location for users to find all things health related. But according to a new report, Apple is working with hospitals and medical industry groups to bring your full medical profile to your phone, giving you full access to your digital medical chart. This leads to many mistakes and missed diagnoses within the industry due to the breakdown in communication, and Apple will have an uphill struggle to bring all sections of the industry on to the same page. With the upcoming iPhone, Apple is looking to change that. Unfortunately, it's still hard to share patient data between doctors because of differing systems and practices between providers. If their efforts showed positive results, then both the medical organisations as well as consumers will have a reason to be happy.

A platform like this could help to solve the health care industry's data sharing problems by making it easier to exchange information, which is referred to as "interoperability".
