Canelo says Vegas bout will prove superiority to GGG

While Mexico's Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 knockouts) is meeting unbeaten three-belt middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) Sept. 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Mayweather is seeking to go to 50-0 on August 26 in the same venue against UFC champion Conor McGregor, making his pro boxing debut.

But Kazakhstan's California-based Golovkin admits Alvarez will be his toughest test yet. "I have a fight with 'Canelo, ' a true boxing fight".

He knows that, too.

Despite the gaudy number the fight is expected to generate, Golovkin believes the bout is nothing more than a spectacle and if fans want to see a real boxing match they should watch his fight with Canelo instead.

Stielike sacked after latest Korea defeat
In the final round, the Taeguk Warriors remain in second place in Group A with 13 points from four wins, a draw and three losses. But Korea has struggled in recent matches. "For now, I think we have a small pool of candidates to choose from".

GGG is one of the more powerful punchers we have ever seen, however, Canelo is maybe equally as powerful.

Mayweather-McGregor will take place three weeks before the unbeaten Golovkin defends his WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight titles against Canelo in the same city on September 16. I'm going to have be smart, be illusive and counter-punch. "He's not a boxer", Golovkin said.

While Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya attempted to prevent the fight from ever taking place, he has now stated that he isn't too anxious about the fight between McGregor and Mayweather drawing attention away from the Alvarez-GGG fight.

Showtime Executive Vice President Stephen Espinoza told The Times in a Monday interview that he's hopeful Mayweather, 40, will find interest in returning from a two-year retirement for McGregor to box again after that.

Since then he has fought 37 times - but only 172 rounds, thanks to his thunderous power - and only went the 12 round distance for the first time ever in March against Daniel Jacobs.

Billy Joe Saunders, the WBO world middleweight champion from the United Kingdom, was also at the press conference sat among the media and asked Alvarez why he had relinquished the WBC title and not fought Golovkin sooner. He doesn't care what the people think about him. "We know how unsafe Golovkin is and I have a lot of respect for him, but we are looking for the knockout on September 16th".

But McGregor, a two-weight UFC champion, has never fought as a professional boxer and faces the sport's best practitioner for decades. "If they want to see a fight - a real fight - they'll go ahead and buy my fight with Golovkin". "He's a good fighter, but he's not a boxer". "Sure why not. Obviously, it's in the back of my mind that fight and I'd love to erase that".
