Sessions' offer to testify surprises, and concerns, intelligence panel

Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., said "there's a real question of the propriety" of Sessions' involvement in Comey's dismissal, because Sessions had stepped aside from the federal investigation into contacts between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

It remains unclear whether the Tuesday hearing will be open to the public. He had told lawmakers at his January confirmation hearing that he had not met with Russians during the campaign. Susan Collins, R-Maine, a member of that committee, referring to the existence of any recordings.

Comey said he had hoped releasing the information via the media would prompt the appointment of a special counsel to handle the Russian Federation probe, a ploy that ultimately proved successful.

Mr Sessions may face sharper questioning from the intelligence committee, which has had access to intelligence materials in its inquiry into the Russian meddling.

Woman accused of leak ordered to remain jailed pending trial
Authorities are looking at two laptops, a tablet and four cellphones seized from Winner's home as well as spiral-bound notebooks. An FBI affidavit says victor confessed to copying and mailing the classified report when agents searched her home last Saturday.

It was on Thursday that former FBI Director Comey delivered what some would call explosive testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee. But: "I think there's absolutely evidence to begin a case".

House Russia investigators, led by Texas Republican Rep. Michael Conaway and California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, sent a formal request to the White House for any records of Trump's private meetings with Comey.

Now, before he even testifies, the focus is both on Sessions and whether or not he would appear before the TV cameras like former FBI Director James Comey did last week, when 19.5 million Americans watched. "That's a question for the committee", said Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores. "There's a real question of the propriety of the attorney general participating in that in any way, shape or form", Reed, who is a member of the Senate intelligence committee, said on Fox News Sunday. In an extraordinary moment last week, both DNI Dan Coats and NSA chief Mike Rogers refused to answer questions on the details of those exchanges. "Doing policy by tweets is really a shakeup for us, because there's no justification presented".

Trump's allies attempted to move the national storyline away from Russian Federation on the Sunday talk shows, arguing that Comey's testimony about former Attorney General Loretta Lynch to call the Hillary Clinton email investigation a "matter" was more compelling.

He formally announced Miami's expansion bid in early 2014. "We need time", Beckham attorney Neisen Kasdin told commissioners. Many residents went before the commission to urge against the stadium being built in the city's Overtown neighborhood.

-Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of NY said he would take Trump up on his offer to testify under oath about his conversations with Comey, inviting the president to testify before the Senate. Feinstein said the Judiciary Committee should investigate.

Sessions in March removed himself from involvement in any probe into alleged Russian election meddling but maintained he did nothing wrong by failing to disclose that he met a year ago with Russia's ambassador. In addition to Sessions' possible testimony, the question remains whether or not Trump taped his conversations with Comey.

As for the timing of Sessions' recusal, Comey said the FBI expected the attorney general to take himself out of the matters under investigation weeks before he actually did.

Republican Senator James Lankford, a member of the intelligence panel, told CBS' "Face the Nation" the decision was not finalized, but "I assume that this will be public".
