Trump confirms he's under investigation over ex-FBI director Comey's firing

On Thursday, Trump appeared to criticize Mueller on Twitter saying the Russian Federation investigation being "led by some very bad and conflicted people".

President Donald Trump has issued a stream of tweets defending his record and lashing out at the investigation into Russian interference in the United States election. An official confirmed to Fox News that Trump was referring to Rosenstein in the statement.

"In order to try to attempt to raise a legitimate scenario to fire Mueller, Trump has to discredit him", attorney Jeffrey Jacobovitz, who represented some Clinton-era White House officials, told the Post.

Rosenstein was also the person who appointed Robert Mueller as a special counsel to head the Russian Federation investigation after Comey was sacked.

That tweet came a day after The Washington Post reported that Mueller had expanded his probe to look into whether Trump himself tried to obstruct justice by allegedly pressing top intelligence officials to intervene in ongoing investigations.

Fears that DUP deal with May will result in concessions to unionism
Anna Soubry, another senior Conservative politician, told the BBC Friday that May should "consider her position". Some say her failure means the government must now take a more flexible approach to the divorce.

It was unclear whether the president was referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The deputy attorney general wrote the memo that recommended Mr. Comey's firing, which the president initially relied on to justify the dismissal.

Citing Rosenstein's private remarks, ABC News reported that he may have to recuse himself from the investigation, potentially following in the footsteps of Attorney General Jeff Sessions who did so in early March in a move that continues to vex the American president. The Justice Department had no comment on Trump's tweet Friday.

Mr Comey said he was "sure" Mr Mueller was looking at whether Mr Trump had obstructed justice, but added that to his knowledge, the president had not tried to impede the Russian Federation inquiry.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of reporting that Trump has grown frustrated that there is a "Russia cloud" hovering over his presidency and wants to find a way to remove it.

Meanwhile, Mueller has sought interviews with three Trump administration officials who weren't involved in Trump's campaign. The transition, a nonprofit structurally separate from the Trump campaign, continues to operate with a small staff.

"With this in mind please immediately suspend any deletion, modification, overwriting, or other possible destruction of the information described above, including electronic information, and take all reasonable measures to preserve this information", the memo said, according to the Times.

A source close to Trump's legal team insisted to the Guardian that "the president was not confirming the investigation. Nice", Trump wrote in his first tweet.

Sessions' offer to testify surprises, and concerns, intelligence panel
In addition to Sessions' possible testimony, the question remains whether or not Trump taped his conversations with Comey. He had told lawmakers at his January confirmation hearing that he had not met with Russians during the campaign.
