Trump outlines privatizing air traffic control

"Our plan will get you where you need to go more quickly, more reliably, and more affordably", Trump said.

"Today we are taking the first important step to clearing the runway for more jobs, lower prices, and much much much better transportation", said Trump, pointing out that the USA pioneered air travel.

"A modern air traffic control system will make life better for all Americans", Trump said. The system was first designed at a time when the number of air passengers was 100,000 a year, while that number is now approaching 1 billion.

The FAA would retain its oversight of air travel safety, but its 30,000 air traffic controllers would move off the government's books. The event will highlight the locks, dams and other elements of the inland waterways system crucial for moving agricultural products and other goods.

Global reaction pours in as Trump nears climate deal decision
President Donald Trump tweeted on Wednesday that he will announce decision on the Paris Agreement "over the next few days". Trump's tweet came amid multiple news reports that said Trump is expected to pull the US out of the agreement.

Flight delays are costing the USA economy approximately $25 billion a year, the president said, and the previous administration's attempts to upgrade the system cost $7 billion while yielding no results. It's time to join the future.

"It's about time", Trump said on Monday before signing an letter outlining the plan and added the changed would herald an "air travel revolution". They're the ones that know they systems that they want.

He said they studied several other countries' plans.

The president explained that by putting the air traffic control system in the hands of the non-governmental entity, the Federal Aviation Administration will be able to focus on safety.

The FAA had been working to upgrade the system for years, Trump said. But it remains to see if the proposal retains the backing of another critical organization - the controllers union. This new entity will not need taxpayer money, which is very shocking when people hear that.

They have said the FAA has been unable to achieve its goals partly due to financial uncertainty. The White House expects the general fund would cover the shortfall between those taxes and the costs.

The plan is part of the White House's goal to transform USA infrastructure.

The White House budget released last month would eliminate the airline ticket tax, but keep other excise taxes in place (at a rate to be determined), including fuel taxes and cargo fees, to fund the Airport Improvement Program and the rest of the FAA. "Over the past 20 years, more than 50 counties from around the world have successfully separated 24/7 ATC operation from the government regulator". Those jobs are spread among Kansas City International Airport, the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport and a Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center in Olathe. We should not delay or prevent the system's progress or the country's growth for a risky transition to a new privatized entity for which only untested assertions about rewards or results can be made. "After billions and billions of tax dollars spent and many years of delays, we are still stuck with an ancient, broken, antiquated disgusting system that doesn't work", Trump said.

No Vote on State Budget on Last Day of Legislative Session
House Bill 1316 includes a program called the College Affordability Grant, which would give IL residents a yearly grant of $4,000. You have a permanent increase in the income tax and (this is) two years? It's unclear whether Rauner will sign the bill.

Privatization of air traffic control is an idea long supported by most of the commercial airlines. The group now says it "looks forward to reviewing the specifics of the air traffic control reform legislation so we can evaluate whether it satisfies our union's principles". They will give Trump the opportunity to provide some counterprogramming to the drumbeat of Russian Federation news. "If we adopt these changes, Americans can look forward to cheaper, faster, and safer travel, a future where 20 percent of a ticket price doesn't go to the government, and where you don't have to sit on a tarmac or circle for hours and hours over an airport, which is very unsafe also, before you land", he said. He said the users of the system will be in control of managing it. It is worth noting that the majority of all general aviation in the world today takes place in the USA and we appreciate your support for our industry. "Today we are taking the first important step to clearing the runway for more jobs, lower prices, and much, much, much better transportation", the president said. It also enhances safety and national security and allows for the "expedited use of technology".
