Trump to pull United States out of Paris climate accord: Axios

Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and PayPal, tweeted on Wednesday that he has done all he can to influence Trump's decision and if the Orangeman did not listen he would give up on advising him any further. They said the deal would require the United States government to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, which would hurt business.

The Agreement calls on countries to combat climate change and to accelerate and intensify the actions and investments needed for a sustainable low carbon future, and to adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change.

"They're going to make their own decision, but we all need to be moving forward".

"These countries are committed", he said. Withdrawing would leave the United States as one of just three countries outside the agreement.

American corporate leaders have also appealed to the businessman-turned-president to stay.

After sitting down with two dozen climate scientists and analyzing a computer model of the potential scenario, The Associated Press found that a lack of USA participation in the Paris Agreement would make it more hard to stop Earth from crossing into a risky temperature threshold.

Juncker went on to say that the Group of Seven leaders "tried to explain this in clear simple sentences to Mr. Trump" at a recent summit in Italy.

Mr Nuttall argued that Muslims should do more to combat terrorism while Mr Corbyn attacked him for singling out the community. May had faced criticism for her decision to not take part in the event. "Now, Amber Rudd is up next".

Last weekend President Trump left the G7 summit in Sicily without reaffirming his commitment to the accord, unlike the other six world leaders in attendance. "It looks like that attempt failed", Juncker said. "This notion, 'I am Trump, I am American, America first and I am getting out, ' that is not going to happen".

He had promised during his presidential campaign to pull the USA out of the deal.

That fight has played out within Trump's administration.

He was to meet later Wednesday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has favoured remaining in the agreement.

Administration officials, from left, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, and Vice President Mike Pence, applaud as President Donal. "They're going to withdraw USA participation in the treaty".

In television interviews the morning after Trump's announcement, Vice President Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway, a senior White House aide, defended Trump's decision as a reassertion of America's sovereignty.

Framing his decision as "a reassertion of America's sovereignty", he said, "I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris".

White House communications director Michael Dubke resigns
However, Dubke only commented that his decision to leave culminated from "a number of reasons", that he insists are "personal". Bossie encouraged the American people to say enough is enough, and reject the concept of "the celebrity press conference".

Trump had several potential options.

Leaving the deal would fulfill a central campaign pledge, but would certainly anger global allies that spent years in hard negotiations that produced an accord to reduce carbon emissions.

Spicer says Trump ultimately "wants a fair deal for the American people". All 195 members of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change signed the agreement; of those, 147 - including Canada - have ratified it.

"It's now up to the European Union, India and China to take the lead" on climate change, he said. "Climate solutions provide opportunities that are unmatchable". He said the USA would try to negotiate re-entry on better terms. Calculations suggest withdrawal from the Paris accord could result in emissions of up to 3 billion tons of additional carbon dioxide a year - enough to melt ice sheets faster, raise seas higher and trigger more extreme weather.

That post includes a video link to an impassioned speech that Guterres gave on Tuesday, when he called on the world to intensify action to combat climate change. The decision has no direct impact on major US regulations on power plants and vehicle rules now aimed at reducing carbon emissions, although those are now under review by Trump as well. European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic said this would be disappointing. Instead, it's catalyzed support for the deal.
