VP Pence Hires Outside Lawyers Regarding Russia Investigation

A spokesman for Pence confirmed Cullen's hiring in an emailed statement, adding that the lawyer will assist Pence in "responding to inquiries by the special counsel".

The Washington Post was the first to report the news Thursday, noting that Pence had hired former Virginia attorney general Richard Cullen to represent him.

In May, President Donald Trump hired his own special counsel - his longtime lawyer Marc Kasowitz - to help represent him in the ongoing probe into possible Russian interference. He served as special counsel to former Sen.

New search underway near home of London Bridge attackers
The three, who were not connected to the weekend attack on London Bridge , are being questioned at a south London police station. Twelve other men arrested in the early stages of the investigation have all been released without charge.

A final decision was made to hire Cullen earlier this week. Cullen referred questions to the vice president's office.

Mueller is also now investigating whether President Trump obstructed the investigation at all.

The president denies doing anything wrong and has called the investigations a "witch hunt".

Sessions' offer to testify surprises, and concerns, intelligence panel
In addition to Sessions' possible testimony, the question remains whether or not Trump taped his conversations with Comey. He had told lawmakers at his January confirmation hearing that he had not met with Russians during the campaign.

The visit from Pence comes one day before President Donald Trump will arrive in Miami, where he is expected to make a major announcement regarding the USA and Cuba. The Associated Press and other news organizations have also reported that Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in December proposed a back channel between the Trump transition team and the Kremlin.

The president has come under further scrutiny for his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, a decision Trump later seemed to imply was related, in part, to the Russian Federation probe that Comey was then overseeing.
