Woman accused of leak ordered to remain jailed pending trial

If convicted, victor could face up to 10 years in prison. Her arrest was announced on Monday, the same day The Intercept reported that a top-secret National Security Agency document showed more evidence of Russian attempts to hack the usa election.

A federal judge ordered that victor remain held without bond after prosecutors argued during Thursday's three-hour hearing that she posed a flight risk and danger to the public, citing what they called "disturbing" comments in a notebook of hers.

Victor is the first person charged with leaking classified information during the Trump administration, which has called repeatedly for investigations into media reports on leaked intelligence. Authorities don't know what was saved to the drive or where it is now.

The parents of the USA government contractor insist she's not a flight risk and should be released from jail before her trial.

Solari said prosecutors were not trying to link her to terrorism, however. He added: "Everyone in America knows what she looks like at this point".

Reality Winner exits the Augusta Courthouse on June 8, 2017.

"In the government's criminal complaint against victor, it says it was able to track her down as the leaker because The Intercept showed government officials a copy of the leaked document, which showed signs of having been folded".

In one notation she wrote: "I want to burn the White House down", Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Solari told the judge.

Winner posted under a pseudonym, Sara Winners, but didn't seem concerned with concealing her identity, using a photo of herself as a profile picture and posting a selfie in February. "She will do whatever you tell her to do if you grant her bond", her stepfather, Gary Winner, told the judge.

Jury Set In Tensing Retrial, Visits Scene
Mathews said DuBose "wouldn't have ended up shot" if he had complied with Tensing's orders and hadn't attempted to flee. Nine white jurors and three black jurors were seated Wednesday and were taken by a bus to the scene of the shooting.

When prosecutors questioned Winner-Davis about her daughter telling her to "play that angle", she said it was true. He says she has never run away from anything and there's no reason to hold her.

On Thursday, Winner appeared in court for the first time and pleaded not guilty to transmitting defense information, the Associated Press reported.

She is the first person charged with leaking classified information during the Trump administration, which has called repeatedly for investigations into media reports on leaked intelligence.

An FBI affidavit says victor confessed to copying and mailing the classified report when agents searched her home last Saturday. Authorities are looking at two laptops, a tablet and four cellphones seized from Winner's home as well as spiral-bound notebooks.

It will be hard for 25-year-old Reality Winner to get a fair trial if her case becomes "this big thing where we're not going to tolerate leakers", Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday.
