Hyperloop approved between NYC and DC, says Elon Musk

Musk founded The Boring Co. earlier this year, buying a used tunnel-boring machine, naming it Godot, and putting it to work in the parking lot across from SpaceX headquarters, along Crenshaw Boulevard near 120th Street.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk says he has "verbal government approval" to build a tunnel for high-speed transportation from NY to Washington that could break ground by the end of this year.

That's if you believe what Elon Musk tweets.

Musk didn't share any additional details about what he means by "verbal" approval specifically, and we've reached out to The Boring Company to find out more details.

That leaves us with the million dollar question: Who gave Musk the green light?

Trade data out of China
Iron ore is among China's biggest imports from the North after it stopped buying coal this year due to the sanctions. He said Chinese imports from the North fell 36.5 percent in March, 41.6 percent in April and 31.6 percent in May.

The Department of Transportation did not immediately return request for comment.

Further more, some expressed concern over the actual possibility of even digging a tunnel under major cities in the first place.

Musk said a trip from NY to Washington, which now takes about three hours by train, would take just 29 minutes under his plan. High-speed-rail linking the cities of the northeast has been talked about for decades, but Musk sounds like he wants to make it a reality.

Musk described the project as a network of underground tunnels that would transport goods on sleds, and that could offer transportation for cars, cargo and more, using Hyperloop, TechCrunch reported.

After New York-to-Washington, Musk said he would probably proceed with a hyperloop from Los Angeles to San Francisco and one in Texas.

While it took a few months, the app is now available just a couple of days before the release of Splatoon 2 . You can enjoy voice chat in different ways depending on the type of game you're playing.

Musk tweeted that he received "verbal government approval" for his Boring Company, a tunnel drilling company he started a year ago, to construct a Hyperloop tunnel to connect New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.

Getting from New York City to Washington in under a half hour perhaps got a step closer Thursday.

There's obviously a significant gap between Musk's vision and a full tunnel segment, but the latest tweets suggest it's a graspable start.

But advanced tunneling technology will also be in high demand on Mars, Musk said, citing the likely need to mine large amounts of ice and other natural resources. Musk plans for the first stretch of tunnel to run from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Culver City, then to Santa Monica, Westwood and Sherman Oaks.
