Judge Rules Against London Hospital--In Favor of Charlie Gard's Parents

Gard's parents, who submitted a petition of over 350,000 signatures demanding that they be allowed to take him to the United States for treatment, attended the hearing at the High Court in London.

"We are trying to take our son from one hospital where they do a lot of specialities there", Gard said.

Charlie's family were joined by an American pastor who travelled to the United Kingdom to pray at his bedside and tweets from the campaign account suggested he had initially not been allowed on the neonatal intensive care unit, which cares for seriously ill infants.

The hospital's decision to go back into the courtroom came after two global healthcare facilities and their researchers contacted them to say they have "fresh evidence about their proposed experimental treatment".

"I hope they can see there is more of a chance than previously thought and hope they trust us as parents and trust the other doctors", she said.

Lawyers representing Charlie's parents suggested that another judge should analyse any fresh evidence.

Two U.S. Congressmen have promised to introduce a bill that would grant Charlie and his parents Lawful Permanent Resident status (aka "greencard holder") if the courts reconsider and allow him to be transferred.

"Today is a victory for poor Charlie and Chris and Connie over Great Ormond Street Hospital", Glenn said after the judge ruled.

Additionally, Justice Nicholas Francis of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice ruled in April that withdrawing life support was in the boy's best interest.

The U.K. High Court agreed to give Gard's case a new trial in light of new evidence concerning nucleoside bypass therapy presented by two global hospitals.

President Donald Trump and Pope Francis both offered to provide treatment for Gard in the USA and Francis' children's hospital respectively.

According to Charlie's father, the baby should have gotten his chance at experimental treatment "a long time ago".

Judges in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court have all sided with the doctors, while the European Court of Human Rights said it would not intervene.

"I am holding my hands up, I say my prayers over my son every night and I am thankful that he is on that medication". If you bring new evidence to me and I consider that evidence changes the situation.

Must resolutely oppose evils of terrorism, radicalism and violence, says Modi
He also lauded the Prime Minister as a great leader of India and a great world leader. The Israeli Prime Minister Netayanahu has given a warm welcome to Modi.

"There are now seven doctors supporting us from Italy, America, and England, as well, that think that this [treatment] has a chance", Connie Yates said.

"Not only that, but they said it would be futile and would prolong Charlie's suffering".

Equally as important, the Vatican followed up with concrete action: Bambino Gesu, the Vatican's own hospital, offered to take Charlie and care for him, for free.

Charlie inherited the faulty RRM2B gene, affecting the cells responsible for energy production and respiration and leaving him unable to move or breathe without a ventilator.

Charlie's doctors say his brain is extensively damaged at a cellular level.

Thanking supporters, Mr Gard said: "Let's get Charlie the treatment he needs".
