Trump says upcoming health vote is GOP's chance to keep vow

The Senate voted to begin debate on a bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare on Tuesday after Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said "we can't let this moment slip by".

After recovering from surgery in Arizona, McCain flew to Washington and was greeted by standing ovations on both sides of the Senate floor when he dramatically marched on the floor to cast the crucial vote.

The U.S. Senate voted to move ahead with debate on health care with a key procedural vote Tuesday following weeks of deliberation and controversy. Most senators don't know exactly what it is they're going to be voting on.

At one point, Trump incorrectly stated the number of years since Obamacare became been law, claiming it had "wreaked havoc" on Americans for 17 years. The House bill is not expected to be put to a vote, according to The New York Times. That requires not only a majority vote in the Senate, but a bill to debate.

"I'm pretty confident we'll get on the bill even without John, " Sen.

Paul tweeted that McConnell informed him Tuesday morning that that the plan is to write on a repeal and delay plan that resembles a Senate-passed bill from 2015.

Despite Farenthold's claim that it's "female senators from the Northeast" who are primarily the obstacle to appealing Obamacare, the only person who fits this descriptor is Sen. With Democrats united in opposition, the GOP can only afford to lose two of their own votes.

Other female senators who have expressed reservations are Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, some distance from the Northeast. In a sign of the high stakes involved, Trump exhorted senators anew Sunday night to pass health legislation. Collins is the only New England Republican in the Senate. He gathered together several families who he said had been hurt by former President Barack Obama's signature legislative achievement, and then read a short speech urging GOP lawmakers to act.

Trump implored fellow Republicans to make good on a promise to repeal the ACA, widely known as Obamacare, that has been a staple of their rhetoric for seven years.

"The Senate bill that is being considered outside of the outright repeal of Obamacare will also provide emergency relief for the law's victims, and it will deliver truly great healthcare and healthcare reforms that our citizens want, need, and really should be demanding - some are demanding".
