Jeff Immelt rules himself out of Uber CEO search

Uber has chosen Expedia boss Dara Khosrowshahi to be its chief executive, ending months of speculation in the firm's search for a new leader.

Khosrowshahi was not among those reported to have been in the running. The online booking site is one of the largest travel agencies in the world. The firm has approached the judge in DE court and has stated that the Kalanick, who is still a member of the board is still interfering in critical decisions being taken by the company.

Uber has also faced an executive exodus this year. Kalanick, 41, resigned in June after five of Uber's major investors, including the venture capital firm Benchmark Capital, demanded that he leave. Other top executives, such as Uber's first employee and SVP of global operations, have also stepped down recently.

Benchmark still believes that Meg Whitman would be less tolerant of Kalanick's antics and won't be "open towards the pugnacious entrepreneur", Recode added.

Kalanick is asking for the dismissal of an investor lawsuit against him, calling it part of a personal attack aimed at sidelining him. Although she spoke to some board members remotely Friday night, they could not guarantee an end to their infighting or that Kalanick would not become board chairman, said another person with knowledge of the board discussions.
