Zimbabwe's first lady surrenders to police in assault case

Mugabe (52) who is married to President Robert Mugabe, was expected to hand herself over to police after she allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old model, Gabriella Engels, with an extension cord in Sandton on Saturday.

There had been confusion over her whereabouts on Tuesday after the South African police minister, Fikile Mbalula, said she had handed herself in to authorities and was due in court, only for that court to close for the day without her making an appearance.

It comes as Grace failed to appear at a court hearing on Tuesday to answer the accusations. "All the Police Minister needs to do is to speak to his counterpart in Home Affairs to confirm whether or not Ms Mugabe did in fact flee yesterday", said the radical opposition party.

"The investigation into this case has already reached an advanced stage‚" Naidoo said. "We are at a point where we can not effect an arrest yet", a senior police source told news agency Reuters.

Contrary to false media reports that Zimbabwe's first lady - who faces a charge of criminal assault after brutally attacking two young ladies she suspected of cohabiting with her two sons in Sandton - has fled to Harare, she is still holed up in South Africa, African Independent can reveal.

Three people dead in Kenosha County shooting
Witnesses say the victims were standing near the concessions stand when the suspect walked up and shot them at very close range. Two of the victims died immediately; the third died on the way to the hospital, Beth said.

Mugabe allegedly arrived at the hotel with bodyguards and accused Engels of partying with her sons Robert and Chatunga, who are both in their 20s and live in Johannesburg.

Grace Mugabe is not the only one in the family who has a history of physical altercations.

'I don't know how she [Grace] got into the hotel room, ' Engels said. "With an extension cord and used the plug to hit me", she explained with a picture showing a deep cut on her forehead.

"I just want justice for my daughter. I'm a model and I make my money based on my looks‚" she said.

"There was a criminal case opened in Sandton at Morningside (station) yesterday, but I cannot release any name".

Why is Arsenal's Alexis trying to hide that he is in Paris?
It's not like they are going to sell him for £50m and take £200 of everybody's season tickets because we've sold our best player. Alexis Sanchez put the cat amongst the pigeons on Sunday - by sending out a tweet which revealed his location to be Paris.

Police spokesman Vish Naidoo did not comment on the specifics of the case, other than to say it related to assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She added that it is unfortunate that the incident occurred during the month when South Africans are commemorating women for their role in the liberation struggle. "Over my arms, in my hair, everywhere". She plans to press charges against Mugabe but doesn't know how far it will go, according to NPR.

Calls to Mugabe's spokesperson George Charamba went unanswered.

"Over and over", Engels said. "As a mother, she should have dealt with her kids", Sandra Madzinyenga, a mother of four boys, told DW. Writing on Twitter, Ms Engels, a model from Johannesburg, claimed that the first lady attacked her while her guards looked on and did nothing to help her. "I am trying so hard to be strong", she said.
