Nest just announced its first brand new thermostat since 2011

Nest wants to make smart thermostats more appealing to a broader audience.

The Thermostat E will likewise be ideal with less warming and cooling frameworks generally top-notch ones, Nest says, similar to those that incorporate a humidifier, yet it's as yet expected to be useful for 85 percent of home needs. We plan to purchase the Nest Thermostat E and run it through our entire testing protocol. That said, adjusting the schedule to change the temperature based on when you leave and when you come back home is completely doable as well and only takes a few seconds to set up in the Nest app if you choose to do so.

Abbott patches pacemaker software to guard against hacks
In some cases, the risks may necessitate the performance of the procedure at a facility with a temporary pacemaker generator. Patients with affected devices should schedule an in-person visit to have the firmware update installed, the FDA said .

Thermostat E, however, is a stark design departure from the original Nest Learning Thermostat. As you can see from the image below, it certainly stands out less than the Learning Thermostat, with its dark screen and metal outer ring. Nest claims that its thermostats save homeowners between 12 percent and 15 percent on their heating and cooling bills on average each year, which is really the feature it's going to try to sell new customers on. To that end, it also drops some of its nice extras: it won't be moonlighting as a clock in its downtime, for starters, and while it still works with 85% of U.S. households, a pruning of the wiring means that's a 10% decline from the third generation Nest. And you can adjust it from anywhere, even when you're not home. There are only six wires, compared to the original Nest's 10, which means HVAC compatibility drops from "95 percent of systems" to "85 percent". When the display is off, the screen will just look gray. At $169 upfront, that means the Thermostat E could virtually pay for itself in just over a year.

Nest is launching a new smart thermostat Thursday called the Nest Thermostat E. It's essentially a new and improved version that's about $80 cheaper than the original.

County game suspended after arrow fired into The Oval
The game itself was hardly eventful and was heading towards a draw with Middlesex stretching their second-innings lead past 180. "There are no reported injuries", Metropolitan Police was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

The two models, Thermostat and Thermostat E, work virtually identically. That includes support for Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant, though users of Apple's HomeKit platform are still out of luck. Founder and longtime CEO Tony Fadell departed a little over a year ago, and questions about the company's performance have dogged Nest since then. The lack of advanced on-device controls doesn't seem like a major feature to give up, especially since the Nest app is so intuitive and ubiquitious across a wide range of devices.
