NSA briefed White House officials on private email, cellphone risks

Kushner reportedly ruffled feathers on Capitol Hill by not being forthcoming about the personal e-mail account he has been using for months to communicate about elements of official White House business with other West Wing staffers. Kushner, who is Trump's son-in-law, is the president's point man on China, Syria, Middle East peace, and Afghanistan, along with innovation, infrastructure and other issues. "It's a pretty safe bet that his personal devices have been compromised by foreign intelligence services".

West Wing officials were reportedly anxious that White House counsel Don McGahn was considering resigning over meetings between President Trump and and his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, whose actions have drawn scrutiny in the federal Russian Federation probe. "And, therefore, there is some risk that meetings he attends are compromised, too".

In addition, Politico reported that Ivanka Trump and four other Trump aides used their personal email for official business, including economic adviser Gary Cohn.

News about the White House probe angered several White House officials and surprised White House lawyers.

For people who rode into the White House on disingenuous "lock her up" chants, it's an incredible irony that they appear to be guilty of something so much worse than simply using private email addresses and devices.

The site based its report on "one former senior USA intelligence official familiar with the briefings", and "and three other former officials familiar with such briefings". "We also want to lay the foundation for political change that both outlives this administration and expands upon it".

White House press representatives declined to comment on which officials were briefed, but the former intelligence official told Politico that former chief of staff Reince Priebus and Homeland Security adviser Tom Bossert were present.

The briefings, first reported by Politico, are part of the security training given to every new administration.

Abbe Lowell, Kushner's laywer, indicated that "fewer than 100 emails about government business are in Kushner's private email domain", and they have been forwarded to the White House account, Politico added.

"To my knowledge, it's very limited", she said.
