Russian Federation rejects United States call to cut ties with N Korea

Attacking remarks made by US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, he also said using force against Pyongyang would be "a big mistake", TASS news agency reported.

China could control North Korea's regime but doesn't see the need to do so - at least not yet, says a US senator.

Haley said during her speech at the United Nations headquarter that President Trump has called President Xi to stop all oil shipments to North Korea. If war does come, it will be because of continued acts of aggression like we witnessed yesterday ...

While it's true that China could intervene, Wicker further said, allowing Kim Jong-un to flaunt the United States gives China "leverage" with the USA and other countries who need its help.

The call by Haley was made a day after defiant North Korea fired it's first missile since September 15 which it claimed could reach mainland USA. DPRK refers to North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

TASS cited Lavrov as saying using force against North Korea would be "playing with fire" and "a big mistake" and that Moscow would do everything it could to avoid such a scenario.

As Trump and Kim have traded insults and threats from across the globe, North Korea has stubbornly refused to step away from its nuclear program despite mounting pressure from the global community. The U.S. already imposed unilateral sanctions on Pyongyang, but these seem to have failed to make any difference in the regime's plans for turning into a nuclear power.

North Korea tested a missile this week that experts believe showed that the rogue regime could launch an attack that reaches the U.S. mainland, spiking concerns that the country may soon be able to attach a miniaturized nuclear weapon to one of those missiles.

Pyongyang is believed to have anywhere between 25 to 60 nuclear warheads, but experts think it's still at least a year or so away from developing the technology that would allow it to successfully launch a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile and have it reach the USA mainland.
